Neither the bulls nor the bears were able to get the upper hand in Monday’s session. The bears were able to defend both the high for the move from Friday (4227.75 vs. 4221.75) and the closing high from Thursday (4212 vs. 4205). The bulls were able to defend Friday’s low during the mid-morning retreat of the regular session (4191.50 vs. 4191). 

The stalemate came from Friday’s closing price, which was a few ticks higher at 4205.50.

For the second day in a row, the biggest winner of the top components was Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA), which extended its winning streak to five days. For the session, the issue advanced by $8.73 or 4.8% to close at $188.87. 

This exceeded the cash index’s decrease of 0.01% for the day.

Conversely, Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ) was the biggest loser among the top components. For the session, the issue declined by $2.04 or 1.28%.
