The S&P 500 index futures remain dormant for the seventh day in a row. Support is well defined by the last three daily lows coming within a few handles of each other at the 4135 area.

On the upside, resistance is not as well defined. For now, the closing high for the recent rally (4180), has not been reached in the last three sessions.

After another choppy session, the index gained 2.75 handles at the closing price of 4159.50.

Exxon Mobil (NYSE: XOM) was the biggest gainer of the top components. For the session, the issue added $2.19 or 1.89% at the closing price of $118.20.

That was much better than the cash index’s marginal gain of 0.07%.

Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA) was the biggest loser of the top components of the index. For the session, the issue declined by $2.53 or 1.5% at the closing price of $162.65.
