Off the open of the regular session, the S&P 500 index futures seem destined to test the lows for the week. A rebound from the intraday low (4468.75) well above that level (4444.50) took the index to nearly Thursday’s high (4516 vs. 4517.25).

However, the weakness in the top components (large-cap tech stocks) was too much of an obstacle for the index to overcome. As a result, the index tapered off into the close and ended up in red by 12.75 handles to close at 4483.50. On a weekly basis, the index snapped a three-week win streak by losing 55.75 handles.

For the fourth day in a row, UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE: UNH) was the biggest gainer of the top components. Also, for the fourth day in a row, the issue made a new all-time and all-time closing high by adding $9.01 or 1.68% to close at $545.96.

For the fourth day in a row, Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ: NVDA) was the biggest loser of the top components of the index. The issue extended its losing streak to four sessions, by declining $10.89 or 4.5% to close at $231.19.
