Ahead of market moving economic data, the S&P 500 futures index may have a muted range as investors trim positions ahead of the release.

That is exactly what took place in Tuesday’s session. Following the weakness in the premarket session, the index went nowhere.

The closing print, which was lower by 18.75 handles at 4134, nearly matched the opening print of the regular session of 4135.50.

Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) was the biggest winner of the top components of the index. The issue extended its winning streak to six sessions by adding $0.79 or 0.75% at the closing price of $106.62.

That was over one percent better than the cash index’s decline of 0.45%.

Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ: NVDA) was the biggest loser of the top components of the index. The issue retreated from its 13-month high, declining by $5.80 or 2%.
